John Wesley sent Francis Asbury off to America, Asbury asked, "What shall I tell them?" Wesley said, "Offer them Christ!" Today as we face a complex and confusing world those words still ring true. But, sadly, our church spends much of its time focused on symptoms rather than solutions. Some years ago when my Annual Conference spent a year focused on evangelistic efforts the local church membership showed a net increase. The next year when it was suggested that we do it again I was told, "We've done that. Let's do something else." We need to once again listen to Wesley's wise counsel.
I plan to use this blog to reflect and comment on issues in our church and welcome your input. I sign myself.
J.
